How to enroll a device in "Basic Enrollment"

Reminder: Have you setup and prepared for device enrollment?

Visit the preparation for enrollment page to double check

1) Initiate Basic enrollment by sending Enrollment Link to device

Visit this Dashboard screen: https://focus.dimagi.com/a/enroll/devices

Steps:

  1. Select from the "Enroll in" drop-down list the Device Group you want the device to be part of. It can be left as no group

  2. Either enter a mobile number for the device and press the "Send" button

  3. Or enter an email address that will be received on the device and press the "Send" button

2) Complete Enrollment on the device using Enrollment Link

Steps

  1. Find either the SMS or the email from FocusMDM

  2. Click the link and see the welcome screen

  3. Click the "Click here to enroll" button

  4. It will open the Play Store and automatically download and install FocusMDM on the device (if it does not automatically do this, then it will take you to the Play Store and you can press the Install button)

  5. IMPORTANT STEP: Open the FocusMDM app

  6. In the FocusMDM App, the privacy policy must be read all the way to the end and the "I Agree" button pressed.




  7. IMPORTANT STEP: Then the Setup step will request a few permissions to be granted. Grant ALL permissions by toggling each one to on.

  8. The Focus App will ask for device name and user details. The name of the company (the workspace ID) will be shown. If not shown, then ask the FocusMDM administrator for this.

  9. When all information added, press the "Enroll" button.




  10. Once all permissions are granted by user, the FocusMDM app will show the main Data Manager screen




Another Option -
Complete Enrollment on the device without a Link

IF its not possible to send an SMS or an email to the device, consider this

Steps

  1. From the device that needs to be enrolled, open Google Play Store and search “FocusMDM” (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.commcare.devicepolicycontroller&hl=en_US)

  2. Install the FocusMDM app to the device

  3. IMPORTANT STEP: Open the FocusMDM app

  4. In the FocusMDM App, the privacy policy must be read all the way to the end and the "I Agree" button pressed.




  5. IMPORTANT STEP: Then the Setup step will request a few permissions. Grant ALL permissions by toggling each one to on.

  6. Once all permissions are granted, the FocusMDM app will show the main Data Manager screen




  7. In the Options Menu (top right), click "Manual Enroll" menu item




  8. Enter in device name / user details and workspace ID (which can be located here: https://focus.dimagi.com/a/enroll/devices)




  9. When all information added, press the "Enroll" button.

  10. Again the Data Manager screen will be shown. On the top left menu (3 bars) when it drops down will show at the bottom the sync status. 

  11. Check that it has done a sync recently


Your device is now manually enrolled and the administrator on the FocusMDM Dashboard will see the device listed
