Terminology
Android Go - stripped down version of Android for entry-level smartphones. Optimized to run on smartphones with 512 MB to 1 GB of RAM and with 8 or 16 GB of storage. Comes with Android 8.1 (API 27) and higher
Android Go Play Store - Android Go devices have access to an exclusive version of the Play Store.
Bring your own device (BYOD) - A personally owned device that an employee also uses for work.
Company-owned device - Formerly known as corp-liable device. A device owned and fully managed by an employee's organization. Company-owned devices can be set up exclusively for work use (fully managed)
Device enrollment - on-boarding enterprise-owned devices to a mobile device management (MDM) solution
Device provisioning - The process of setting up management on a device. The term provisioning for a device means to evolve a device to a state in which it can be handed off to an end-user for their specific use in a functional manner.
Device owner (DO) - The DPC installed on fully managed and dedicated devices is referred to as the device owner.
Device policy controller (DPC) - An app that controls local device policies and system applications on devices. FocusMDM is a custom developed DPC so it has its own DPC identifier afw#dimag
Enterprise mobility management (EMM) - An enterprise mobility management solution provider. EMMs provide a combination of MDM and MAM features for customers (enterprises or other organizations) to manage their mobile devices.
Fully managed device - A device that is entirely managed by the user's organization, intended for company-owned devices that are used exclusively for work purposes
Google Play Protect - helps you keep your device safe and secure. It runs a safety check on apps from the Google Play Store before you download them
Managed Google Play Account - Formerly known as Android for Work Account. An account that gives a user access to managed Google Play and apps whitelisted for them by their IT admin.
MDM - Mobile Device Management
Store apps - Android Play Store apps. Different to in-house apps which are developed and distributed by a company/enterprise
Reverse Billing - Reverse billing services allow companies to pay for the mobile data customers use when visiting their website or other online resources.
NOTE: Can request specific domains or VPN IPs to be reverse billed, ensuring that only certain users can access key applications.VPN - Virtual Private Network. The remote device connects to the VPN server using a dial-up window and the VPN server returns an IP address that belongs to the series of IP addresses belonging to a local network of the corporate office.
It can be used to camouflage geolocation as masks your IP address.
