Regimen Management

The regimen is the basis of treatment monitoring in SureAdhere. It populates the patient's Adherence calendar with the doses the patient is expected to take, and it drives dose reminders.

About the regimen builder

As you build a schedule, a calendar preview on the right updates instantly to show which days the patient is expected to take medication. Weeks start on Sunday, both in the calendar and in date pickers.

The total dose for a drug is calculated automatically from the number and size of the pills you prescribe, which prevents entry errors. Each drug schedule is created and edited separately, so changing one drug doesn't disturb the others.

Create a regimen

  1. Open the Regimen tab in the patient's account.

  2. Give the regimen a name.

  3. Add one or more drug schedules (see the next section). Multiple drugs can share one schedule if they have the same frequency and duration; a drug on a different frequency or duration gets its own schedule.

Add a drug schedule

  1. Select the drug.

  2. Enter the number of pills and the pill size. The total dose is calculated automatically.

  3. Choose how the schedule repeats: every day; specific days of the week (pick the days); or every other day (doses alternate days, starting from the start date).

  4. Pick the start date.

  5. Enter the duration as a number of weeks.

Duration is flexible. If weeks aren't the right fit, open Advanced options to enter a number of days instead, or pick an exact end date on a calendar. The three stay in sync automatically, so you can use whichever is easiest.

Check the calendar preview as you go — it shows exactly which days the patient will be expected to take this drug.

Track overall adherence with a Generic Dose

If you don't need to monitor every drug individually, you can capture high-level adherence instead. Add a schedule with Generic Dose as the drug, enter zero for the pills and pill size, and set the frequency and duration as usual.

Edit a regimen

Each existing schedule shows its end date. When treatment for a drug ends, stop that drug's schedule — ended drugs no longer appear on the calendar after their stop date.

If you edit a schedule whose start date is in the past, a Schedule Change Required message appears and you are asked to choose a change date for when the edit should take effect. SureAdhere then adjusts the current schedule or adds new ones — closing schedules where needed — so the change is reflected from that date. Changes that would affect days where adherence data has already been recorded are not allowed.

View the audit history

Click Show regimen audit history to see the full record of changes to the regimen — who changed what and when — including history for unscheduled drugs.

A small number of organizations still use the older regimen interface. If this looks like your screen, follow these steps — and contact sureadhere@dimagi.com to be upgraded to the new builder.

Create the regimen

  1. On the Regimen tab, click Continue in the message box.

  2. Enter the Regimen Name.

  3. Choose the Condition/Disease and Monitoring Method from the dropdown lists.

Create a drug schedule

  1. Type in the Drug Name box and select a drug from the list, then enter its Total mg and No. of Pills. Repeat for every drug on the same schedule.

  2. Select a Start Date and the No. of Days/Week.

  3. Under Frequency, select the days of the week and the time the drugs should be taken.

  4. Fill out either No. of Weeks and Additional Days, or No. of Doses — the other fields are calculated automatically.

  5. Click ADD SCHEDULE for any drugs on a different schedule, then click SAVE.

More than one dose a day

If a drug needs to be taken more than once a day, click the add-time control (1) and fill in the additional time (2), then click SAVE. Both schedules appear in the patient's Dose Details.

Edit the regimen

  • ADD DRUG adds a drug to an active schedule, with its own start date.

  • STOP DRUG stops an individual drug on the stop date you select (the last day it appears in treatment).

  • Drug mgs and pills, and the time of dose, can be edited at any time. Editing the time also updates the patient reminder — reminders are sent one hour after the scheduled dose time.

  • Adjust the number of doses using No. of Weeks, Additional Days, and No. of Doses.

  • STOP DRUG SCHEDULE stops a whole schedule on the date you select; Reopen Drug Schedule reopens an inactive schedule so you can add doses.
