Notifications on potential abuse of devices
Overview
For managers who are concerned about their mobile workers misusing devices for non-work related activities, FocusMDM helps by sending email alerts.
The Choice of Notification emails
Consider which alerts are essential to monitor and turn off the email notifications that are not relevant
Types of Issues
Device has not synced in the last three days
If users of devices have easy access to internet connectivity, then this is useful warning
It will highlight users who are not using the device as expected as FocusMDM will automatically sync ever few hours if connected to the internet.
Device has not synced in the last week
If users of devices have limited access to internet connectivity, then this is useful warning. More useful that the "Device has not synced in last 3 days" which may be sent too regularly.
It will highlight users where the FocusMDM app on the device is not sending data to the FocusMDM Dashboard in a sync. It can be for users who are not using the device, the device is turned off, the device does not have internet connectivity.
Device has never synced
This notification is sent after a device has been enrolled with FocusMDM, but has not yet synced with the FocusMDM to send all relevant data.
This is a very useful alert as it can indicate an issue with a unsuccessful Enrollment of the device
Device is not fully configured
This is a high priority issue as the FocusMDM App will not be working as expected on the device
When a device is enrolled and setup with FocusMDM it should be correctly configured. This means that all the necessary settings and permissions are allowed.
This notification will be sent if a device is not enrolled correctly and all settings are not enabled.
SIM card has been removed from device
Use this if you are concerned about your users taking the SIM out of your device and then using the data on another mobile device that you don't manage with FocusMDM
Device user has submitted unblock request
This email notification will be sent when a device user wants to access a App that is currently blocked for them by a Rule setup on FocusMDM. The FocusMDM app will inform the user they cannot use the App and give them a button to request access.
You can contact this user to explain why they cannot access this App. Or consider changing the Rules for blocking Apps
Device user requested admin access to FocusMDM settings
This email notification will be sent when a device user wants to access the Android Settings for the FocusMDM app. The FocusMDM app will inform the user they cannot change the settings and give them a button to request access.
You can contact this user to explain why they cannot access settings.
Or you can choose to allow this by turning the "Focus app uninstall allowed" switch on (this switch is located when editing device information)
NOTE: Even if device user requests this multiple times, the Admin user will only see 1 request
Device is approaching its monthly data limit
When a device has usage that is over 75% of the Data Usage Threshold, then this Issue is created and email notifications are sent.
Note: The device user is not sent an alert
The Issue is resolved at the start of a new month
Device has exceeded its monthly data limit
When a device has usage that is over 100% of the Data Usage Threshold, then this Issue is created and email notifications are sent.
