The Rapid Diagnostics Toolkit was tested across a range of devices during both QA and in practice during UAT and was functional on all of the devices used, but lower-end devices did report sluggish performance.
The app should be capable of working on any Android 5.0 device or newer, but for best performance we recommend the following:
Minimum | Recommended | |
System | Android 6.0 | Android 9.0 |
CPU | 1.4Ghz | 1.5 Ghz or higher |
Storage | 1GB | 1 GB or more |
Camera** | 8MP | 10MP |
RAM | 1 GB | 2 GB |
**In the field, there are a wide variety of smartphones and tablets with varying quality. Some may report to be able to fulfill the resolution requirement but lack the critical ability of being able to focus at the distance required for the RDT to align with the reticle (in the range of ~10 cm). Such a device would be unusable, as the user would never be able to capture a sharp enough image to progress past the error checks to result interpretation.
