CommTrack is an open-source product designed to strengthen logistics management through the use of mobile technology. Its purpose is to support health workers and other mobile agents who manage commodities in low-resource settings. It has been proven at scale, through real-world deployments, to provide reliable, real-time, and actionable information to improve the performance of new and existing supply chains. CommTrack is integrated seamlessly with CommCare, Dimagi’s suite of industry-leading tools for empowering the mobile workforce. CommTrack: SMS vs. Mobile App
- CommTrack began with providing SMS solutions, enabling any functional mobile phone to submit stock report and receive corresponding alerts and reports in structured SMS format. Learn more about our case studies.
- CommTrack can also be used on a mobile application (as opposed to a structured SMS workflow). For an overview and features of the CommTrack mobile app, check out our video demos. If using mobile app to collect data, a good starting point is our demo app published on CommCare Exchange.

CommTrack On the Web
CommTrack on the web is designed for web users who supervise agents collecting and submitting stock data in the field.
- Sign up an account on CommTrack, set up your projects step by step, create and manage facilities and products he/she to track, and agents who are to track all different products.
- Sign in on CommTrack to see multiple reports of data submission, as well as the activity and performance of data collectors that you have created. Control the view from the left navigation under Reports tab once you login to CommTrack.
CommTrack On Mobile App
- CommTrack on a mobile app is designed for mobile agents who are assigned to collect and report logistics data of products in facilities. They are created by supervisors on CommTrack web.
- Once they log into the CommTrack mobile app with the credentials provided by supervisors, their associations with given products and given facilities are synced to their mobile app.
- Data cannot be edited by the agent once it gets submitted. The phone syncs with the server automatically when there is internet connectivity.
