This paper summarizes the evidence base for CommCare and closely related mobile applications for frontline workers. We reviewed all published papers and unpublished (gray literature) studies about the CommCare platform, all published papers on pertinent, alternative mobile systems, and several papers on highly relevant topics. This collection of 44 papers offers substantial evidence that CommCare improves access, quality, experience and accountability of frontline workers' services, in addition to improving clients' knowledge, attitude, and practice. This includes 21 peer-reviewed, published papers about CommCare and 15 unpublished papers about CommCare.
