New Regimen Management
This document outlines the workflow for managing patient regimens within the SureAdhere system. Regimens schedules are essential for monitoring treatment, populating the Adherence Calendar, and sending dose reminders.
1. Adding a Patient Regimen
A regimen defines the treatment plan for a patient and consists of one or more drug schedules.
1.1 Create Patient Regimen Definition
This step names the overall treatment plan and links it to a specific condition. This is an optional step, you do not need a Regimen definition to add drug schedules.
Navigate to the Regimen tab within a patient's account.
In the Regimen Name field, enter a descriptive name for the regimen (e.g., "Hypertension Treatment Plan").
From the Condition/Disease dropdown list, select the patient's relevant condition or disease.
Select Save.
1.2 Create Drug Schedules
After defining the regimen, you'll add specific drug schedules. Multiple drugs can be added to a single schedule if they share the same frequency and duration. If drugs have different schedules, you'll create a new schedule for each.
Choose +New Schedule.
Begin typing in the Drugs box and select the drug(s) from the dropdown list.
Enter the Number of pills and Dose per pill (mg/ml). The Total dose (mg/ml) will automatically calculate.
Repeat steps 6-7 for all drugs that will be taken with the same schedule frequency and duration.
Select the Start Date for this drug schedule. Note: As you update this date and add more details, the "Doses in Total" for this schedule will automatically update.
Choose the Time the patient is scheduled to take the medication(s).
Select the Repeats frequency based on how often the patient will take the dose:
Daily: Includes all days from Sunday to Saturday (default).
Weekly on <Start Date day of week> Schedules the dose once a week. Note: The day of the week is determined by the Start Date selected in step 2.
Weekdays: Schedules doses for Monday through Friday.
Custom: Allows you to select specific days from Sunday to Saturday.
Update the Number of Weeks the patient is expected to take the drug(s). The minimum is 1 week. Note: The Calendar Preview will update in real-time, marking the days drugs are scheduled.
Once all drugs and schedule details are entered, choose Create to save the new schedule. Select Cancel to discard it. Note: A separate schedule card will be created for each medication added.
If the patient has other medications with different schedules, click +New Schedule and repeat the steps above.
1.3 Create Multiple Schedules in a Day
If a medication needs to be taken multiple times a day, you'll create a new schedule for each different administration time.
Follow the steps in "Create Drug Schedules" (above), specifying the new time for the additional dose.
Navigate to the Patient's Dose Details on the Adherence tab to view all schedules.
2. Editing Regimen Schedules
Changing schedules with no adherence data tracked can be freely Edited. If an existing Schedule is Edited, with a Start Date in the past, you will be prompted for a Change Date for the Edit. SureAdhere will adjust the current schedule or add new schedules, including potentially closing schedules, depending on the Change dates to ensure all changes are reflected in the schedules. Schedule changes that would affect Adherence Dose days with data tracked are not allowed.
