Web Translations
CommCare supports multiple languages for its web interface. Users can select their preferred language either before logging in or after logging into their account. This ensures that both new and existing users can interact with the platform in the language they understand best.
Currently supported translations are English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Hindi, Arabic, Italian, Swahili, and Ukrainian
Selecting a Language Before Logging In
When visiting the CommCare HQ login or sign up page, users will see a language dropdown in the top-right corner of the screen. This allows anyone to view the login page and related interface text in a different language.
Key Behaviors:
The selected language will immediately update the login form (labels, buttons, and error messages).
If the user goes on to create a new CommCare HQ account, this language will be saved as their default language preference.
If the user is logging into an existing account, the selected language will apply temporarily on the login screen, but once logged in, their account’s saved language will take over.
This pre-login option is helpful for new users or teams working across multiple languages.
Changing Language After Logging In
After logging into CommCare HQ, users can change the interface language at any time from their personal account settings. This also becomes default language seen in Web Apps and reports (if applicable), but does not affect mobile applications.
Enabling Translations
You can change your default language in your account settings on CommCare HQ. Steps to accomplish this are as follows:
Navigate to “My Account Settings” or follow this link https://www.commcarehq.org/account/settings/
Select your desired language under the “My Language” dropdown under “My Information”
Select “Update My Information”
