Important note about naming: Since users will navigate the application using form and menu names, ensure that all names clearly describe what the menu or form does, are brief (can fit on the phone screen), and consistent (e.g. all registration forms are named the same thing).
Menu Types
Before you build a CommCare form, you will need to decide what kind of menu you want your form to be nested in. Your options include the following:

Surveys
For one-time data collection. You can read more here: Surveys
When building surveys in CommCare, all forms are nested within a Survey Menu that can only add other survey forms.

Case List
To structure forms that register and follow-up on items or people of interest over time, via Case Management.
When you select a case list, your application will always start with a registration form. In building out other forms, you have the option to select another registration or follow-up form.

Use the same name for forms with similar functions (ex. registration in different modules)
Menu Settings
All menu types can be managed in Menu Settings. To find Menu settings, click, the top-level menu item and it will bring you to the settings.
