CommTrack: Part of ComCare Suite

...

CommTrack is an open-source product designed to strengthen logistics management through the use of mobile technology. Its purpose is to support health workers and other mobile agents who manage commodities in low-resource settings. It has been proven at scale, through real-world deployments, to provide reliable, real-time, and actionable information to improve the performance of new and existing supply chains. CommTrack is integrated seamlessly with CommCare, Dimagi’s suite of industry-leading tools for empowering the mobile workforce. If your questions are not answered on this page, you may find what you want with CommCare

What are the benefits of CommTrack?

  • Streamline logistics systems with targeted, actionable information to supervisors and managers
  • Improve quality of reliable, real-time stock information to decision-makers at all levels
  • Facilitate detection, resolution, and prevention of stockouts
  • Reduce lead times through improved supervision of requisition and delivery, and identify bottlenecks
  • Assist with stock tracking and analysis to inform forecasting and resource allocation

Medium that CommTrack use to submit and receive logistics data

1)      SMS

2)      Feature-rich mobile applications on basic Java-enabled phones, Android smartphones or tablets

All data is collected on a HIPAA-compliant web-based server where it is protected, backed up, and immediately made accessible to supervisors and program managers through automated, pre-programmed reporting and data exports. New deployments can quickly get started by opening an account on the server, registering new users, and customizing the system for their commodities, reporting needs, and business requirements.

What are the components of a CommTrack logistics system?

  1. CommTrack Mobile: the mobile device part of CommTrack. This could be a phone, tablet, or someone entering data using a computer. Someone using CommTrack Mobile is generally the stock-keeper and stock-requester (could be a pharmacist at a village dispensary).

  2. CommTrack: the website (www.commtrack.org) where administrative users (decision makers in the supply chain) can access data, configure CommTrack mobile application, and manage mobile workers.  CommCareHQ is the web portal that administrative users arrive at once they successfully sign in on CommTrack site.
