It is possible to deprecate a case type using the Data Dictionary. Although applications using deprecated case types can still publish new releases and submit forms, they should ideally switch to case types that are not deprecated.

Effects of Deprecating a Case Type

The following effects occur when a case type is deprecated:

  • The report's case type filtering dropdown will not include deprecated case types as available options.

  • It is not possible to create new data case exports using a deprecated case type. Existing exports using deprecated case types will not be affected, but a deprecated tag will appear.

  • Users will still be able to perform bulk case imports using deprecated case types, but case imports using deprecated case types will not be possible.

  • A new automatic rule cannot be created using a deprecated case type. Existing rules using deprecated case types will not be affected, but a deprecated tag will appear.

  • A warning banner will be shown when a new release is done on an application that uses one or more deprecated case types.

  • A warning banner will be shown on the case details page for a case that has a deprecated case type.
